Product Sourcing Landscape in Thailand

Understanding how sourcing works in Thailand helps buyers approach supplier selection, MOQ expectations, and quotation evaluation with greater clarity before production begins

Thailand has strong export manufacturing across several industries including processed food and ingredients, personal care and cosmetics, herbal and wellness products, rubber goods, plastics and packaging, and automotive or industrial components. Many factories in these sectors operate under OEM manufacturing models, producing according to buyer specifications, private-label packaging, and export-oriented production requirements.

Export production capacity is concentrated in industrial provinces such as Chonburi, Rayong, Samut Prakan, and Ayutthaya, where factories operate within established manufacturing zones connected to Laem Chabang Port and Thailand’s main logistics infrastructure.

Minimum order quantities in Thailand are rarely defined by a single fixed number. Instead, they are usually determined by production batch sizes, packaging print minimums, raw material procurement volumes, and manufacturing line changeover requirements.

For many consumer goods, customized production typically begins in the range of 500–3,000 units per SKU, particularly when private-label packaging, custom labels, or branded cartons are involved. Lower quantities may sometimes be possible when standard packaging formats are used or when production can be combined with existing manufacturing runs.

When evaluating supplier quotations, several production parameters should always be clearly defined. These typically include unit price, packaging specifications (material and finish), master carton configuration, units per carton, gross and net weight, estimated production lead time, and the selected Incoterm such as EXW, FOB, or FCA.

Without these details clearly outlined, quotations that appear similar may actually include different assumptions regarding packaging standards, logistics responsibility, or production scope, making accurate comparison between suppliers difficult.
